Mold can grow on many surfaces

September 9, 2013 By Jay Connors

You would be surprised to find out how many areas in a home that mold can grow!

Mold can grow on many surfaces such as suitcases, clothing and furniture.  Damp and humid basements often have mold growing where you least expect.

Mold grows on virtually any organic material.

There are molds that grow on wood, paper, carpet, insulation and of course foods.  Because mold digests what it’s growing on, it can damage furnishings and building components.  If left unchecked, mold eventually can cause damages to the buildings structural integrity!

You can also avoid potential serious health problems, damages to the building and save money, simply by controlling moisture and eliminating mold growth.

Eliminating all mold and mold spores indoors is virtually impossible, but controlling indoor moisture will control the growth of indoor mold.  So, make sure you clean up any water spills immediately.

Here’s a TIP from the Moldman!

Check around the dishwasher after running a cycle for signs of moisture or water leakage.  You can also remove the kick plate below the dishwasher door and inspect below the unit with a flashlight for standing water.
